There’s something truly magical about Paris, known as the city of light and love, that just fills you up, both in spirit and creativity. As a designer constantly on a search for inspiration and innovation, my recent week-long escape to this iconic city was the perfect mix of relaxation and professional exploration.
In my line of work, staying current in the global design scene is a must, but so is staying true to myself and my creative energy. I’ve created various routines that help me be in tune with my work, and inner self, and one of them includes taking one sacred day each week, just for me. On this day, I dive into nature, wander to a gorgeous view, get in a bit of shopping, or simply enjoy the stillness and fresh air by the water. These moments recharge my creativity, help me stay present, and open up a world of new ideas.
Knowing what my soul needs is always first. I nurture myself from the inside out. I listen to my soul and what it needs- it’s a voice with the most authentic tune. Anyways, travel has always been something that nurtures me in such a unique way. It’s the getting out of your routine, exploring cultures and stories beyond where I live, meeting new people, and the renewed perspective it sheds, is probably why I so deeply cherish it. It’s like hitting the reset button for me—it opens my mind and fills me with inspiration. Each trip is filled with experiences and lessons that I carry back home with me, enriching both my work and personal life. I try to integrate these discoveries and lessons into my everyday routines, adding depth and wisdom to my personal journey.
Our latest project, a Lakeside home, draws inspiration from French culture and aesthetics, blending laid back country charm with Parisian fineries. And let me tell you, it’s turning out to be absolutely magnificent.
Paris itself was like stepping into a dream. I stayed near Vendome, in one of the city’s oldest hotels, surrounded by an abundance of design inspiration. Every street corner tells a story, with ancient stones and French history right beneath your feet. Lift your gaze, and you’re met with timeless stone buildings and iron-laden balconies, each telling tales of eras gone by.Wandering through Paris, I couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer beauty of it all. It’s probably the most fabulous city I’ve ever experienced design-wise. The architecture, the history—it all felt like fuel for my soul. I tried to capture what I was seeing, each building more inspiring than the last, a reminder why so many journeys to Paris, simply to revel in its wonder.
There were birds soaring above, and the sound of busy Parisian’s going about their day. It was picturesque.
This city breathed new life into me, and that exhilaration hasn’t faded. Immersing myself in Paris’s endless charm, I managed to find some stunning pieces for that project, authentic treasures that will bring its walls to life with history and beauty. A mirror, a chair, and various antiquities are now on their way to New York to add a touch of Parisian flair to this home.
Yet beyond the finds, iconic sights, and design heritage, this trip was about embracing the moment, connection, and refueling. I soaked in the magic, the romance, the beauty, and all the blessings that came with it. A chance to connect with myself, and a chance to connect to my work in a fabulous city.
Here’s to living in the now, appreciating the moment, and finding the beauty in whatever journey you are on.
More to come on my parisian adventures, next!
